Soap & Glory Dr Spot - Good Skin in a Tube

Since my teenage years, there hasn't been a day since where I have not suffered from some sort of blemish.  Okay, that might be a slight exaggeration as there may well be the odd day when I can say I didn't get one but let's just say that 90% of the time, there's something going on with my skin.  That's why it's really important for me to always have a spot treatment product to hand.

I was running out of my usual La Roche Posay Effaclar A.I. (which I have mentioned in a few videos) just before Christmas.  I went to the one of the larger Boots on the way home from work on Christmas Eve and although they stock La Roche Posay, they didn't stock the Effaclar A.I..  Unsure what to buy now that I couldn't get my mits on my favourite spot treatment, I turned to a brand that I have learnt to trust just as much as La Roche Posay and that is Soap and Glory.

As mentioned most recently in my post about a Soap & Glory set I fell in the love with, Soap & Glory is fast becoming a trusted brand for me when it comes to skincare.  It's simple, effective and very reasonably priced.  The love affair started with the Ultimelt Cleanser which was my first introduction into hot cloth cleansing and since then, it's turned me onto their face masks, make-up and of course most recently this little beauty.

When panic browsing the various rows of targeted spot brands, Soap & Glory seemed like a much safer option.  The Dr Spot Super Strength Breakout Clearing Gel filled me with much hope and with some really important buzzwords like contains AHAs and Witch Hazel, I was sold.

I don't want to get all science teacher on you now but AHAs (which stands for Alpha Hydroxy Acid) are crucial ingredients when you're in the market for a spot treatment as these are chemical exfoliants which will help even out skin tone.  These chemical miracle workers can come in the form of my personal favourite glycol acid as well as lactic acid and citric acid.  Dr Spot contains salicylic and lactic acid as well as Witch Hazel which is an astringent (that  means it's good at shrinking things) which means this product packs a good punch against spots.

Moving past the science contained within this product, it is very effective at bringing down redness and for anyone that suffers from little yellow heads, to moderate, normal blemishes this will do an effective job within a couple of days.  For us more ache ridden gals, this is still a great product in the fight against blemishes and will help to take down the visible signs, reduce swelling, slow down the oil secretion and help to get  rid of stubborn acne blemishes within 3-5 days.

The best part of this product for me is that it's actually wearable under make-up.  When using a spot treatment product which is a gel based, I often find that although effective at drying up spots, they usually don't sit very well underneath my foundation.  Add concealer into the mix and it's just like LOOK AT THIS MASSIVE SPOT WHICH I'VE TRIED TO COVER UP BUT HAS NOW GONE CRUSTY AND DRY.  However, not with Dr Spot, it dries invisible, it's really lightweight and there is no trace of this under make-up whatsoever.

Are you a lifetime member of the acne club like me?  Do you have any good recommendations for removing stubborn blemishes?  Perhaps you've tried the Dr Spot and love it just as much?  I'd love to hear from you in the comments.
